Anybody, yes anybody, can be given the opportunity to be the “boss” of a team, an initiative, and/or a process. To become and be respected as a Leader, however, is something that is earned over time, much like trust, and cannot be given or bestowed on anyone.
By embracing the foundational principles of servant leadership (Patient, Kind, Thankful, Humble, Respectful, Merciful and Truthful), a leader is much more likely to have a lasting and positive impact as they influence, inspire, mentor, delegate/empower, and serve as a key contributor and member of the team…putting the needs of others ahead of themselves.
