Throughout the last several thousand years, the fundamental principles of leadership haven’t changed. Yes, hundreds of books are published each year that claim to have new insight on the topic of leadership. We would argue, however, that the greatest leadership book of all time, the Bible, continues to be the best guide for creating a culture that recruits, inspires, and retains long-term followers who deliver lasting results.
As Jesus modeled, these outcomes happen through the intentional and service-minded leader who shares a clear and compelling vision, communicates the behaviors and actions required to support that vision, and lovingly holds everyone, including themselves, accountable along the journey. Such a leader embodies the foundational principles of servant leadership: Patient, Kind, Thankful, Humble, Respectful, Merciful and Truthful.
