Why Should We Embrace the Concept of
“Serve in Love”?

If we look at history in search of the best leader of all time — with over 2.6 billion followers — we are pointed to Jesus Christ. Jesus gave us the Servant Leadership model. Many other revered leaders, all of whom have had a lasting impact on our world in their own way, sought to follow and/or learn from Jesus’ example. A few of the most famous of these Servant Leaders are Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King Jr. Each of these leaders embraced the two major themes in Jesus’s ministry:
To Serve and To Love.

To Serve:

As the undisputed greatest leader of all time, in humility, Jesus models true Servant Leadership when he says:

“I did not come to be served, but TO SERVE.” (Matthew 20:28)

To Love:

When asked to identify the greatest commandment (from over 600+ laws in place at the time)
Jesus gave us The Two Greatest Commandments:

In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, Jesus, speaking through Paul, further defined LOVE…and His very self…as:

LOVE is the Guiding Principle of a Servant Leader

If we, as leaders, will seek to follow His example — to “serve one another in love” (Galatians 5:13), we believe that our relationships and results, at home and at work, will have a lasting impact…because LOVE NEVER FAILS! (1 Corinthians 13:8)
